The Goal

I tend to enjoy setting myself borderline unreasonable goals (like learning Russian just so I can read War & Peace as Tolstoy wrote it), so this fits in nicely. I’m an avid reader, and most of my favourite authors are women, so it shouldn’t be too hard. Right?

Except I’m a mood reader that bounces around way more than what is probably healthy. So this is more a test of determination and willpower. We’ll see how it goes.

…I will also post pictures of my cats

The Rules:

-I must continue my yearly reading goal of at least 50 books. More is acceptable, less is not.

-The author must not be male. This includes trans men because trans men are men. Therefore, obviously, trans women count. So do non-binary and gender-queer authors. Just no men.

-I must do my best to not DNF any book. Commit. The exception is if it’s just really really bad, but it will still need to be reviewed on here and documented the exact reasons why I didn’t finish. The reivew will not count towards my 50 books for the year.

-Whenever possible, use the library. Audiobooks count as reading so Libby is my bff.

-If I read it, I review it. This will be almost as hard as the challenge itself, as I am very bad at remembering to review books. Reviews will be spoiler free, though, so at least there’s that?

-Rereads are fine, but can’t be a crutch. There will be more new reads than rereads.

-Lastly, art books and thingsI have to read for work don’t count. Art books meaning things like The Complete Far Side collection, and books for work means occassionally I need to read stuff for work that I can’t just say “no” to (I don’t want to get fired).
